Dear Teacher,

After much discussion and careful consideration we have decided to update our COVID-19 policy. We considered the advice from the CDC, as well as the Philadelphia Health Department, and we have developed the following safety measures for all of our classes and events.

Effective on April 1, 2022:

For our Spring term all of our teachers of indoor classes are vaccinated.

Fully vaccinated and unvaccinated students will be able to participate in our indoor adult classes and activities.

When students arrive at class please check their vaccination cards.

Wearing a mask is optional for vaccinated teachers and students.

Unvaccinated students may attend class but are required to wear two masks while indoors and around others.

For our indoor kids classes, ages 18 and younger, all of our teachers will be vaccinated. Students and teachers will be required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Students under age 18 do not have to share vaccination status.

For our outdoor classes students are encouraged to keep a social distance of six feet or more.

Effective on January 1, 2022, only fully vaccinated teachers and students will be able to participate in our indoor adult classes and activities.

We are also requiring the use of masks at all indoor classes . (updated policy 12/21/21)

Fully vaccinated is defined as at least two weeks after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks after receiving the single dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Kids Classes

For our kids classes there is no change in policy except that we are requiring our teachers to be vaccinated. Masks will still be required at kids classes and students do not need to show their vaccination status.

Online and Outdoor Classes

For our online and outdoor classes teachers and students are not required to be vaccinated .If participants are able to keep a social distance of six feet when outdoors, then masks are encouraged but not required.

Here are the steps we are taking to help get everyone checked in, and ready for the Winter classes.

Teacher Vaccine Card Check-In:

We will be checking vaccination cards before your class begins. Please email your card to info@mtairylearningtree.org with your name, course code and course title

Updates to Your Class

Now that we have updated our policy some of our online teachers may want to change their class to an in-person class, and some teachers may want to change from in-person to online. Please let us know right away if you would like to switch and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

Checking Student Vaccination Cards

For our students, we will be including our updated policy in our printed catalog and on our website. In addition when they register they will be reminded to bring their vaccination card, or photo of their card, to the first session of their class.

We will be sending out rosters and class attendance sheets for your classes. As usual, please arrive half an hour before your class to set up, and as students arrive at the first class they will be prepared to show you their vaccination card.

I know this is an extra step and we are grateful to you, and relying on you to help us carry out our updated Covid-19 policy. During our Fall term 8 out of 21 of our locations ended up requiring vaccination, and many of our teachers helped by checking cards at their first class. If you have any questions or concerns about checking in your students and asking to see their cards, please let me know.

Please pick up hand sanitizer at the MALT office before your class.

If you are not feeling well please do not attend class. We can make arrangements to reschedule or postpone your class, just give us a call at 215-843-6333 and talk to a staff member.

Thank You!

This is such a challenging time, our program is rebuilding and we have had a strong Fall term thanks to you. We deeply appreciate your continued support of MALT, for collaborating with us and offering your talents to our vibrant, engaged community. You make our neighborhood and our community a better place, and we thank you!

If you have any questions or concerns about our updated policy please email me at janet@mtairylearningtree.org or call 215-843-6333.

Sincerely,

Janet Greenwood Gala
Executive Director

MALT COVID-19 Policy
Updated 8/11/2021

Mt. Airy Learning Tree COVID-19 Policy

Updated 11/19/2021, Effective 1/1/2022

We are committed to the health and safety of our teachers, students and community, and are carefully monitoring COVID-19.

We have carefully considered the advice from the CDC, as well as the Philadelphia Health Department, and we have developed the following safety measures for all of our classes and events.

These measures will be updated as needed to reflect changing guidelines. The most current information will be posted on our website at www.mtairylearningtree.org/covid-policy.

For the Winter 2022 term: Only fully vaccinated students and teachers will be able to participate in our indoor adult classes and activities*. Unvaccinated students and teachers are invited to join us and participate in our online and outdoor classes.

When registering for indoor classes adult students will be reminded of our policy and asked to bring their vaccination card, or a photo of their vaccination card, to the first session of each class they register for, and a MALT teacher or staff member will check them in. Masks are strongly encouraged while taking an indoor class.

For our indoor kids classes, ages 18 and younger, all of our teachers will be vaccinated. Students and teachers will be required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Students under age 18 do not have to share vaccination status.

For our outdoor classes vaccination is encouraged but not required. Students are requested to wear a mask unless they are able to keep a social distance of six feet.

In addition, MALT will:

  • Provide hand sanitizer for each class
  • We will host our classes in rooms that have enough space to spread out with at least 3 feet of social distance, and we will limit the attendance to accommodate the class location.
  • Partner Dance Classes – We strongly encourage students to take classes with a partner. You will not be asked to change partners.
  • If you are not feeling well please do not attend class.
  • Teachers and students will be informed of the class location’s Covid-19 policy prior to class if it is more comprehensive than MALT’s Covid-19 policy.

* Full vaccination is considered two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, and two weeks after a single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
