Thank you!

On behalf of the board and staff of Mt. Airy Learning Tree, I offer heartfelt thanks to our MALT community of friends, supporters, volunteers, and garden guests who made our 2022 Hidden Gardens Tour a resounding success. And we extend our special appreciation to our marvelous Garden Hosts. Thank you, thank you, thank you all!!

Because of you we’ve exceeded our fundraising goal by more than 300%, having raised $19,000 in tickets, sponsorships and raffle sales. After not being able to hold the tour for two years due to the pandemic, we are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support we received at this year’s tour. The June 4 event–as beautiful as the day’s weather–was your success.

While we raised funds, we also measure the success of the Hidden Gardens Tour in larger terms. Saturday had a great vibe, we heard enthusiastic feedback from our hosts and guests, and enjoyed the wonderful synergy that the Tour produces. We greeted friends, teachers and neighbors who showed up to pick up their booklets, and visit for a moment before starting their adventure.

We want to thank the Friends of Ned Wolf Park, who have created a beautiful garden for all of us to enjoy year round. Being able to begin the tour surrounded by the Park’s garden was just perfect!

The Tour has been going on for over 30 years! A special thanks goes out to Eleanore Pabarue for all of her hard work during the Tour’s early years. And to Eric Sternfels, who dedicated long hours and careful attention curating gardens for MALT’s Tour from 2013 to 2019. This year’s Tour success is in part due to their impact, and we are grateful.

Our neighborhood is filled with beautiful gardens, and gardeners who plant with care and creativity. We hope that we helped to inspire you, and we are inspired by you as we enjoy this season together!

With sincere appreciation,

Janet Greenwood Gala

Executive Director
